Unlike other theme parks, Universal Studios almost always have a seat/ride replica outside every attraction for guests to test. If I can successfully close all locks in the replica seat, I proceed falling in line for that attraction. Now in the middle of the line, an attendant will usually reach out to you to try a second seat/ride inside a small private room. This allows them to check and make sure I fit in the ride before they let me continue in the line. And since the second replica is in a private room, I will not feel embarrassed if I don't fit in the ride as I can leave without anyone seeing me.

My experience in Universal Studios Japan[/caption] I have only been in two Universal Studios theme park so I'm not sure if the procedure is also the same in other U.S. park, all I know is I like how they do it in Japan. :) I'm not sure how heavy I was then but I was definitely somewhere between 250 to 270 pounds. The biggest part of my body is my thighs which always becomes a problem in theme parks because the safety features won't lock. If your problem is somewhere in the stomach area, you can just make a big inhale as they lock your seat and let go once it's locked. During the time I visited, the only ride that I didn't fit into is Hollywood Dream. But that's okay because I don't really expect to fit into every ride, especially the scariest one!

Me, my boyfriend and my siblings back in 2015.[/caption] Rides that are Plus Size Friendly in Universal Studios Japan I wasn't able to check all the rides in Universal Studios Japan as its sooo big but here is a list of the attractions that are plus size friendly and I was able to try:
  • Sesame Street 4D Magic
  • Terminator 2 3D
  • Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
  • Flight of the Hippogriff
  • The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man - The Ride 4k3D
Here is a list of the attractions that anyone can ride regardless of their weight:
  • Olivanders
  • Waterworld
  • Freezy Ray Sliders
  • Jurassic Park - The Ride
I'm sure there are more rides that plus size like me can ride in the park, however, I cannot add it in my list because I haven't tried it myself. I'm planning to be back this coming March 2019 though so I may update this list soon. Also Read: My overall experience in Japan Update: Yes, I finally went back to Universal Studios and I was still as excited as I was the first time I came here. Unfortunately, I gained some weight and didn't fit in some rides. I wish they offered one or two plus-size seats in every ride so they can also accommodate bigger individuals... The good thing though is that in every attraction, there is always a demo unit right before the entrance so you can try it before waiting in line. Overall, it is still worth it to visit Universal Studios Japan, regardless of your weight, because they still offer many other attractions that don't have weight restrictions.
