Ever since I started using a PC, it has always been a Windows OS and I didn't have any problems with it that I couldn't troubleshoot on my own (with the help of Google of course LOL). My siblings, on the other hand, chose to use MAC and since then they have been convincing me to make the big switch too.

I really have nothing against MAC OS but switching also means starting from the start. The shortcut keys are different, the programs are different, and not all programs I use can be used in a MAC. For instance, my love for video editing using a Cyberlink Power Director cannot be used in a MAC OS.

However, by some twist of fate... my parents decided to get me a MAC for my birthday. And since it is a gift, I am obliged to at least give it a try.

Trying a MAC for the first time

To be honest, MAC seems to be not as bad as I thought it would be. Yes, the first 2 to 3 weeks was a struggle. Not knowing how to copy and paste, search my downloads folder, learning MAC's version of Windows paint ( which I still haven't mastered until now), and the very hard to understand video editor.

However, each day, I slowly learn the shortcuts and realize that MAC really have its advantages so I'm not surprised my siblings decided not to go back to Windows OS. One of the things I liked about it is I really didn't need an external mouse. Once you learn the shortcuts of its trackpad - its just easier to use it compared to a mouse. And that is coming from someone who prefers using a mouse with my Windows laptop since birth!

Another thing is it really takes a long time to drain its battery, especially its wireless keyboard and mouse. I'm a heavy PC user ranging from 8 to 12 hours a day and I only need to recharge the mouse and keyboard every 2 to 3 months?!

Will I get rid of my Windows PC?

Absolutely not. I still need the programs I use that are not compatible with MAC OS. I also like playing games and not all games have a MAC version so that's another reason. But overall, is it worth its price? Yes, especially for business owners, office employees, VAs, homebased employees. Its not as heavy as other laptops yet performs well.
